Project of the Year 2020!

We are very excited to announce that we have been awarded ‘Project of the Year’ by Lancashire FA! This is testament to the hard work that all of our committee members and players put in and it is our combined efforts that has got us where we are one of if not THE biggest women’s recreational and walking football club in Britain! We now have over 100 members.

Our fundraising committee organised a number of different events throughout the year, from a race night to lotteries. We donated over £1000 to our chosen charities and the NHS to show our appreciation for them.

What an honour it was to represent Bury at the annual Greater Manchester Sports Awards, held at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, in Novermber 2019. We had an excellent night and were proud to attend. The following day we visited the Emirates stadium to play Arsenal ladies walking football team. What a weekend for our club!

Many of the ladies in the group completed the Couch to 5K running challenge in Autumn. To celebrate this a number of them then took part in the British Legion ‘Poppy Run’ in Manchester – raising over £2000 between them for the charity.

In September 2019 we were nominated for ‘Initiative of the Year’ at the Bury Sports Awards and we were delighted to win the award and go through to represent Bury at the Greater Manchester Awards! A wonderful achievement in our year of establishment.

Casey, our founder, was also shortlisted in the ‘Workforce Advocate’ category for her work engaging so many members of the education sector in Bury in a sport & fitness based initiative.

In June 2019, we entered our first walking football tournament – the Dick Kerr cup. Our blue team were proud winners of the ‘Most Sporting Team Award’.
